2026 Global Self-Directed Democratic School Conference
Sudbury International is proud to be a part of the upcoming 2026 Global Self-Directed Democratic School Conference.
This year's GSDDSC will be held in La Grange, IL (just outside of Chicago) from Wednesday evening, July 22nd, through Saturday, July 25th.
This eagerly awaited biennial conference is an opportunity for educators from Sudbury, Self-Directed, and Democratic Schools to come together in person and share their knowledge and experience. Featured events include a panel on SDE research, a presentation from Sudbury International, a unique optional excursion aboard a 150-ft tall ship, and is highlighted by Saturday Night's keynote speaker, the author of "Free to Learn", Dr. Peter Gray.

Sudbury is a longstanding model of education inspired by Sudbury Valley School (est. 1968), in which students have real choice and voice, and learn by living, playing, and working together in an age-mixed community, typically ages 4-18.
